The board of directors of the Al-Ahly Club of Egypt issued a statement after the end of its meeting, which was held today on the way of video conference, in response to the controversy currently taking place between the head of the entertainment authority in Saudi Arabia, Turki Al-Sheikh, and some officials of Al-Ahly club, regarding the honorary membership of Turki Al-Sheikh in Al-Ahly. The club issued a set of decisions, the most prominent of which was the cancellation of the honorary membership of Turki Al-Sheikh.
In his press statement, Al-Ahly stressed that "based on the appreciation of the Al-Ahly Club to the members and fans of the club, and in light of the recent developments on the sports field, the Council finds it necessary to put before the public opinion a number of facts before announcing what has been decided upon."
He added: "The Board of Directors has committed to the highest levels of restraint, and has raised considerably from the response, and it receives many false and scattered accusations about the relationship of Turki Al-Sheikh, which has often departed from the correct framework, on the part of the Sheikh himself, whether by direct statement at times, Or by hinting at another time in an unprecedented manner, and this commitment came to the Council’s complete conviction in turn to contribute to strengthening historical relations with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and in appreciation of the institutions of the concerned country that have supported and blessed this cooperation from its inception, in the framework of sports investment and the distinguished relationship with the brothers. ”
Al-Ahly’s board of directors decided to cancel the previous board’s decision and remove the Al-Sheikh from the honorary list of honorary heads of the club, as well as address the Minister of Youth and Sports with a request to obtain his approval to return all the gifts provided by Al-Sheikh in kind and financial donations that entered the club’s treasury, after these donations and gifts have become In its financial and in kind value, it is the property of the club, and it is not permissible to dispose of it except with the approval of the competent authority.
The Al-Ahly Club said that the Board of Directors had reviewed the written apology submitted by Mohamed Serag El-Din, a member of the Board of Directors, for what had been passed from him that exceeded and violated the decision of the Board of Directors to prevent members of the Board and workers in the executive management and technical and administrative organs from taking up club news and files related to its affairs on sites Social Media. He said that after the discussion and he refused Sirajuddin’s departure from the club’s traditions, he decided to accept his apology, with blame and warning him not to repeat such an order in the future.
