Axnér has coached Luigi's men's team since 2012, with a break during the 2014-15 season but he has never coached for a women's team. Now he begins his new mission after the Olympics. And he thinks it looks exciting.

- There are many players who have good club addresses in Europe and are of a good age. Recent results have shown that Sweden has established itself among the eight best in the world and it is fun to be able to continue the good work my predecessors have done, he explains.

First lady assignment

What are your strengths as a union leader?
- I hope my strengths as a coach are the leadership. That it should be clear and straight, what framework exists. Partly tactical but also what applies outside the plan, that it is clear. Working with a common goal image as individuals and collectively. I think that is my strengths.

It's your first ladies team?
- Yes, but it is as good to start with the best we have. I have worked extensively with women and girls individually, technically. Both here in Lugi with the women coaches but also with schools in other contexts. I see no major difference in the handball.

How about leaving Lugi?
- The philosophy we have in Lugi with talent development, a close-knit young team that can fly, it is a project that there is sadness to leave. At the same time, the new job is a job that allows me to stay at home, my family does not have to move and it also comes into play. I am not alone but have three children and a wife too, concludes Tomas Axnér.
