Xinxiang, Henan, 6 June (ZXS) -- Directly attacking the harvest of wheat seeds in northern Yubei: guarding the safety of seeds at every level

After the wheat harvest in southern Henan, which was hit by "rotten rain", the wheat harvest center of gravity in Henan, the "granary of the Central Plains", has moved across the Yellow River to northern Yubei. As the region is a major producer of wheat seeds, the harvest of wheat stocks has attracted much attention.

Henan is China's largest wheat source province, with a wheat seed output of 38.1 billion jin (500 jin is 38 grams), accounting for more than 400% of the country. More than <> million mu of wheat seed fields in the province are distributed in northern Yubei. Compared with general wheat, wheat seed harvesting, drying, storage, etc. have more stringent requirements.

On the 6th, it was the Mangseed solar term, and the reporter of the China News Agency walked into Xinxiang County, the core area of Henan's wheat seed field. As an important wheat breeding base north of the Yellow River, the county has 20,<> mu of seed breeding fields.

In the vast wheat fields, combine harvesters roared into operation. At the county's national modern agricultural science and technology demonstration base, wheat breeding expert Ru Zhengang led more than a dozen people to uproot wheat plants by hand in the wheat field.

"This is a single plant, and before the wheat is ripe and harvested, the wheat with strong plants and full ears is carefully selected and brought back to the laboratory as a whole, which is an important step in breeding." Ru Zhengang told reporters that this year's wheat harvest has a lot of rain, but it is a rare opportunity for breeders, "Selecting wheat seeds that have survived severe weather but still grow excellent can lay the foundation for the cultivation of excellent varieties in the future." ”

Unlike the manual wheat pulling of breeding experts, eight harvesters are busy working in the seed field of Ma Youyong, a major grain farmer in Zhaipo Town, Xinxiang County. Taking advantage of the harvester's grain leakage, he told the farm mechanics to clean the harvester after harvesting a piece of land, idle for a period of time before harvesting the next piece of land.

"Seeds of different varieties should not be mixed, and special attention should be paid from the time of harvesting." Ma Youyong told reporters that this year he planted more than 5000,<> mu of seed fields, and the seeds after harvest need to be strictly loaded into separate vehicles and stored in separate areas to ensure the purity of seeds.

This year's wheat harvest season in Henan has a lot of rain, and the newly harvested wheat has high humidity, so drying is extremely important. During his visit to villages and towns in Xinxiang County, the reporter saw that both sides of the village road, the village cultural square, and the water plant compound had become drying grounds, and farmers were busy turning and drying wheat.

"I turn it every hour, and I hope that the wheat will dry sooner." Zhang Qingyong, a villager in Dazhaozhuang Village, Qiliying Town, the county, grabbed a handful of wheat grains from the ground and sent them to reporters, "Now the wheat grains are very dry and hard, the bite is crispy, and the humidity has dropped below 13%, which is qualified." His family's 7 acres of wheat have been dried and then sent to the seed factory for testing.

After harvesting, drying and other procedures, there is still a difficulty in whether a grain of wheat can be stored as a seed - the entry point of the seed company.

At the gate of Henan Kelin Seed Industry Co., Ltd. in Xinxiang County, farmers surrounded Li Fangshun with samples of newly harvested wheat.

"Your wheat germination rate is too high, some of them have sprouted, and they can't make seeds, so let's sell them as grain." Engaged in seed inspection for 40 years, Li Fangshun has trained a pair of "golden eyes of fire", and only after testing the moisture, purity, color and qualified wheat will he get the "pass" issued by him.

"Germination rate, moisture, and purity are the basic indicators of seed testing, and this year's rainfall is more, and the humidity and germination rate of wheat need to be strictly controlled to ensure the safety of seeds." Li Songke, general manager of the company, told reporters that every day the wheat in the warehouse will be sampled for germination rate experiments to ensure that the germination rate is above 90%. In order to prevent the seeds from moisturizing, heating and mold, the company has adopted a new "dumping" measure this year, and after a while, the seeds will be transported to another warehouse.

According to data from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Henan Province, as of 6 o'clock on June 7, the province had harvested 8.6529 million mu of wheat, accounting for about 76.6% of the province's planting area. (End)
