The Walpurgis Day celebration has once again taken over the student city of Lund. Tens of thousands of partygoers are expected to make the pilgrimage to Stadsparken – for laughter, music, picnics and perhaps the occasional alcoholic unit in the company of good friends.

The spontaneous party usually attracts about 25-30,000 visitors and the police have announced that they will be on site with extra police officers and also police volunteers.

Nitrous oxide debate and entrance band to student accommodation

And even before the party started, it has attracted media attention.

Among other things, students at the Parantesen accommodation in Lund have to show entrance bands to enter their home – a way that the housing company takes to prevent large parties that get out of hand.

It has also been about the municipality's efforts to stop the sale of nitrous oxide, where the politicians' decision on an extended ban was stopped by the County Administrative Board, before it ultimately went through anyway.
