A state news agency is all the less necessary as "we have the +mañanera+", he added, referring to his own morning appointment with journalists from Monday to Friday.
During this press conference of two to three hours, the president reviews in detail the situation of the country, responds to journalists and often criticizes many media and opinion leaders that he accuses of "mafia of power".
Once a week, one of his young collaborators engages in a game of "lies", a kind of press review to invalidate information deemed false by the presidency.
The government "is in the process of reaching an agreement" with Notimex employees to liquidate the agency, he added.
The Notimex agency was created on August 20, 1968, a few weeks before the Olympic Games in Mexico City.
The agency had managed to have a network of correspondents inside and outside Mexico, in text, photo and video.
In February 2020, employees went on strike to denounce the management of the director appointed by Lopez Obrador in 2019, Sanjuana Martinez.
According to union sources, 241 people have been dismissed since March 2019.
