Ahead of the 400th anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, a spokesman for the Russian presidential office said, "In a broad sense, the war will be protracted," and expressed his recognition that the military invasion will be prolonged. He then stated, "We need to unite around the president," and called on the people to unite with us.

It has been 30 days since Russia launched its military invasion of Ukraine.

Asked by reporters about the prospect of a military invasion on the 400th, Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian President's Office, said, "In terms of a war in a broad sense, such as confrontation with hostile and unfriendly countries and a hybrid war against our country, it will be prolonged," and expressed his recognition that the invasion will be prolonged as the confrontation with the West deepens.

He then stated, "We need to unite around the president," and called on the people to unite with us.

In relation to this, the electronic edition of the British newspaper The Guardian quoted an anonymous participant as saying on the 29th that Peskov said to political officials and cultural figures at a private dinner held late last year that "the situation will become even more difficult, it will take a very long time."

On the 28th, Defense Minister Shoigu visited a weapons factory and instructed the Putin administration to work on increasing production, making it clear that it will continue its military invasion against the West, which is accelerating military assistance to Ukraine.

Under these circumstances, regarding the situation in Bakhmut, the fierce battlefield in Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced on the 28th, "The enemy has repeatedly pushed some of the attacks, but we have repeatedly repelled them," and expressed the view that the offensive and defense are continuing in a flurry of progress.

Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mariar posted on social media on the 29th, "Unfortunately, wars are fraught with losses, but the enemy's losses are many times greater," emphasizing his intention to continue defending Bakhmut in preparation for a large-scale reversal offensive.
