Iranian parliamentary elections focus on whether hard-line conservatives will expand their influence. Conflicts with the West deepen over the situation in the Palestinian Gaza Strip and Ukraine.

Iran's parliamentary elections, which mark the end of a four-year term, will be held on one day for 290 seats. Meanwhile, the agency that conducts the preliminary screening of candidacy announced that a quarter of those who received applications were disqualified. Among those disqualified are politicians who criticized the government during demonstrations over how to wear headscarves in October.
