The man, who is in his 40s, downloaded and distributed 167 child pornography images and videos via an international chat forum. But everything was discovered by the American organization NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children), which sent a report to the Swedish police.

By tracking the IP number, the Karlskrona resident could be identified, and his computer and mobile phone seized. There, just over an hour of gross child pornography material was found - but also a number of surreptitiously taken pictures of a naked neighbor girl.

Denying a crime

In police interrogations, the man gives various explanations for the child pornography. Partly that he spread further films without watching them, so as not to be kicked out of the chat group, and partly to try to stop the spread of child pornography.

- There are over 400 terabytes of child pornography on the Darknet, and a crusade was created for this to be lowered and removed. I thought this was cool and wanted to participate. On three occasions I tried to gather evidence, but every time I did, I cowarded out and deleted everything," the man says in questioning.

Police: How did you intend to proceed with the evidence you downloaded?

" I had no particular thought behind it, but in retrospect I have felt stupid.

The man faces charges of aggravated child pornography offenses, child pornography offenses of the normal degree and offensive photography. The trial will be held on Thursday.
