According to Korean media reports, on March 3, the Anti-Corruption Investigation Department of the Seoul Central District Procuratorate, South Korea, conducted a non-detention and prosecution against Lee Jae-myung, leader of the largest opposition party, the Common Democratic Party, on suspicion of dereliction of duty. This comes one year and six months after prosecutors began investigating the Dajang Dong mystery in September 22.

According to Korea Radio International (KBS), Lee is suspected of causing 4895.<> billion won in losses to the Seongnam Urban Development Corporation by approving business structure facilities for private companies involved in the Daejang-dong development project during his tenure as mayor of Seongnam.

Lee Jae-myung is also suspected of leaking to private enterprises the secrets of the municipal government and commune internal duties of the Daejang-dong and Holly New Town construction projects, benefiting the companies by 7886.211 billion won and <>.<> billion won respectively.

In addition, Lee Jae-myung is also suspected of obtaining 133.5 billion won in funds from four companies, including Doosan Construction and NAVER, in the name of Seongnam FC sponsorship, and at this expense to facilitate these companies.

Prosecutors suspect that Lee is colluding with private companies in order to gain political benefits such as fulfilling campaign promises.

Previously, Lee Jae-ming fully denied all suspicions in his written statement. He said he felt that the prosecution was not handling the case, but was "engaged in politics." The prosecution did not conduct an investigation to establish the truth, but fabricated facts for the purpose of prosecution.

According to South Korea's "JoongAng Daily", after indicting Lee Jae-myung without detention, the South Korean prosecutor is expected to bundle the "50 billion club", the suspicion of equity agreement, the suspicion of preferential treatment for the development of Baekhyeon-dong, etc., and apply for an arrest warrant together with Lee Jae-myung.

The Anti-Corruption Investigation Department No. 1 was dispatched by four more prosecutors this month alone, and its investigative manpower was strengthened to focus on investigating the suspected Baekhyeon-dong and the "4 billion club" case.

A relevant person from the Korean prosecutor said that "the prosecution (Lee Jae-myung) is not the end point, but considering the remaining investigation work such as the '50 billion club' and the suspicion of share agreement, in order to prove the relevant suspicions, efforts are being made to supplement the facts of the prosecution."
