Regarding legislative legislation to promote understanding of LGBT people, Komeito leader Yamaguchi said, "The Liberal Democratic Party is embarrassed by its backwardness." emphasized.

In response to the dismissal of the prime minister's secretary last month for making discriminatory remarks about same-sex marriage, both the ruling and opposition parties have called for the early enactment of lawmakers' legislation to promote understanding of LGBT people. However, within the Liberal Democratic Party, there is deep-rooted opposition to the wording of the bill, and concrete discussions have not yet begun.

Regarding this, Komeito representative Yamaguchi said at a press conference, "Given the direction of the Kishida administration to create an inclusive society that recognizes diversity, the objections of some people in the Liberal Democratic Party are not opinions that deny the bill. I can't think of anything," he pointed out.

After that, he said, "Japan is the only country in the G7 that has not taken any institutional measures, and it is embarrassing for Japan to assume the chair country with the Liberal Democratic Party taking a negative attitude toward the bill." He stressed that the bill should be enacted before the Hiroshima Summit.
