The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia announced the suppression of the work of 23 underground workshops for the modernization of weapons and the manufacture of ammunition in a number of Russian regions.

“The FSB of Russia, in cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Guard, stopped the criminal activities of 59 residents of 34 subjects of the country involved in the restoration of the combat properties of civilian weapons in clandestine workshops and their sale,” the FSB DSO reports.

Operational-search activities and investigative actions were carried out at the addresses of residence of illegal gunsmiths in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the Donetsk People's Republic, as well as the republics of Dagestan, Crimea, Komi, North Ossetia-Alania and Khakassia.

In addition, law enforcement agencies worked in the Altai, Krasnoyarsk, Stavropol Territories, the Jewish Autonomous Region, Amur, Belgorod, Vladimir, Voronezh, Irkutsk, Kaluga, Lipetsk, Moscow, Ryazan, Samara, Sverdlovsk, Smolensk, Tver and Tomsk regions.

118 firearms of domestic and foreign production were seized from illegal circulation, including two machine guns (“Kord” and RPD), 14 assault rifles (AK-12, AK-103, AK-74 and others), three submachine guns (“Kedr ”, PPS), 28 rifles, carbines and shotguns (Joseph, Vepr, SKS, Mauser and others), 65 pistols and revolvers (APS, revolver, PM, PSM, TT, Beretta, Colt and others) and two grenade launchers GP-25.

In addition, 17 artillery shells and mines, 21 hand grenades (RGD-5, RGD-33, F-1), 15 fuses, detonators and fuses, more than 12 kg of explosives, over 13 thousand cartridges of various calibers were also found and seized. , 118 basic parts for firearms, as well as 11 units of edged weapons.

As a result of the work of law enforcement agencies, the activities of 23 underground workshops for the modernization of weapons and the manufacture of ammunition were stopped.

The FSB systematically reports on the results of its work to combat illegal structures of this nature.

At the end of January, the department also reported on the suppression of the activities of 93 underground gunsmiths in 38 regions of Russia.

In the course of this work, service officers, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard, seized more than 250 weapons.

In November 2022, it became known that 68 underground gunsmiths were detained in 31 regions of the country, 304 firearms, 51 hand grenades and more than 18 kg of explosives were seized from them.

In October of the same year, it was reported that 353 weapons were seized during a large-scale raid against underground gunsmiths, which the FSB carried out in 45 regions of Russia.

As a result, the activities of 123 residents involved in the illegal circulation of weapons of destruction, as well as the restoration of the combat properties of civilian weapons, were stopped.

In September, the FSB reported that more than 90 underground gunsmiths had been detained in 40 regions of Russia, and 349 firearms of domestic and foreign production were confiscated from them.

Along with this, the FSB reported on the operation against underground gunsmiths at the end of June.

It was about suppressing the activities of underground weapons workshops in 38 Russian regions, in which 116 were engaged in the restoration of the combat properties of civilian weapons.

Deportation of a foreigner who planned to fight for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The press service of the FSB of Russia for Moscow and the Moscow Region reported that the foreign motorized rifleman planned to travel to Ukraine and participate in hostilities against the Russian military.

“Reliable data has been received about the intentions of a foreign citizen temporarily residing in the Moscow region to leave for the territory of Ukraine and take part in an armed conflict on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation,” RIA Novosti quoted the press service as saying.

We are talking about a man who previously served in a motorized rifle brigade of the army of one of the Central Asian republics.

It is reported that he planned to travel to Ukraine and take part in hostilities against the RF Armed Forces for a reward promised to him by an unknown person on the Internet.

It is noted that an official warning was announced to the foreigner about the inadmissibility of actions directed against the security of the Russian Federation and creating conditions for the commission of a crime.

Along with this, a decision was made to deport him and close the entrance to the territory of the Russian Federation.
