The big favourite, the leader of the general classification of the World Cup overcame two shooting errors to get ahead of his compatriot Sturla Laegreid and the Swede Sebastian Samuelsson.

Frenchman Quentin Fillon Maillet, Olympic champion in the specialty, finished fourth.

Boe wins his 7th individual world title, the 16th of his career, including the relay events.

Invincible so far in these Worlds, he is only one victory away, in a mass start on Sunday, from becoming the very first biathlete to win the four individual events in the same edition of the Worlds.

Until then, both the French Martin Fourcade and Raphaël Poirée, the Norwegian Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, the first and the last twice, as well as the German Laura Dahlmeier, the Norwegian Liv Grete Skjelbreid and the Ukrainian Olena Zubrilova, have capped at three individual gold medals during a world fortnight.

For Quentin Fillon Maillet, the disappointment is all the more immense as he once seemed able to take a place on the podium.

The five-time Olympic medalist in 2022 only missed one target, on the last ball of his last standing shot.

The race was contested in bright sunshine and on a slow and difficult to ski track with snow softened by the heat.
