The bitter cold and the darkness of the night did not prevent rescue workers in both Syria and Turkey from continuing to search tirelessly for survivors among the rubble of thousands of buildings that collapsed as a result of a series of violent earthquakes that shook the two countries.

The total confirmed death toll in the two countries reached more than 5,000 after violent earthquakes struck near the Turkish-Syrian border, the strongest of which recorded 7.8 degrees on the Richter scale.

A group of video clips documented difficult moments during the rescue operations, and each revealed a painful story that will not be erased from memory.

A kiss of deliverance

And the account of the Turkish channel "TRT Haber" (TRT Haber) published a video clip showing that the rescuers were able to pull a child out of the rubble in the city of Malatya, while a person chanted "In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful", and the last kiss was printed on the cheek of the surviving child. Expressing his happiness at being alive.

Underground talk

In another scene, as screams, cries, and distress calls are heard, a young girl remains calm under the rubble, and is answering questions from a paramedic who is trying to save her.

Crying and screaming

And the Anadolu Agency account on Twitter published a video clip documenting the rescue of the 17-year-old girl, Hulya Erm Esther, from under the rubble in the Turkish state of Kahramanmaraş.

good news

Turkish media published video clips of the rescue of 4 people alive in Kahramanmaraş 27 hours after the earthquake that struck Turkey, and local activists and platforms celebrated the circulating clips, describing them as "good news from the wreckage of the earthquake" and a "miracle."

Anadolu Agency also documented the rescue of a girl from the wreckage of a 7-storey residential building, 27 hours after the devastating earthquake.

collapses and losses

Turkish relief teams counted the collapse of more than 5,600 buildings in many cities, including several-storey buildings that house large families whose members were asleep when the first earthquake struck.

And the Turkish Emergency and Disaster Management Administration (AFAD) announced that the death toll from the earthquake in Turkey had reached 2,921, bringing the total death toll in Turkey and Syria to 4,365.

There are fears that the death toll will continue to rise at this pace, especially since the World Health Organization estimates that about 20,000 people have been killed.

The situation in neighboring Syria was not different from Turkey, as the earthquake-hit areas were completely damaged, while the lack of capabilities complicated rescue operations.

Extreme difficulty

Syrian activists documented the continuation of the recovery operations of the victims and the rescue of those trapped under the rubble of houses in the northern Syrian towns, with the advent of the evening hours, amid calls for the provision of heavy rescue equipment.

The scenes monitor the night rescue operations in which the rubble is illuminated with simple lighting methods, amidst the relentless efforts to rescue the stranded and recover the victims.

Birth in the rubble

Syrian activists documented in a video clip the moment a baby born to his mother was recovered under the rubble of her house destroyed by the earthquake in the city of Jenderes, in the countryside of Aleppo.

In the video clip - which was widely circulated on communication platforms - the moment the infant was removed from the rubble area, activists said that his mother "gave birth to him and died joining her entire family."

The last hug

The pioneers of social media platforms also interacted with great pain and sadness with a circulating image showing the death of a Syrian father alongside his son as they embraced each other, under the rubble of collapsed buildings as a result of the devastating earthquake that struck northern Syria at dawn yesterday, Monday.

Syrian activists stated that the circulating photo belongs to a Syrian father and his son in the city of Jenderes in the countryside of Aleppo (northern Syria), and they died together after a building collapsed on them, describing the snapshot as a "last embrace."
