8 missiles target a military base in Iraq hosting Turkish forces

The Anti-Terrorism Service in the Kurdistan region of Iraq said that unknown attackers fired eight missiles today, Wednesday, targeting a Turkish military base in the north of the country, and two of them fell inside the base. Turkey confirmed the attack and vowed to respond.

"From time to time there are some attacks on Turkish bases, and we respond to those attacks and take the necessary measures," Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar told reporters in Ankara.

Earlier, a Turkish security source confirmed that the attack did not cause any injuries or damage at the base, without going into details.

An Iraqi security source, who asked not to be named, stated that an Iraqi contractor at the base was injured.
