Two days of work for a new world record.

The Pizza Hut company produced the largest pizza on the planet last Friday in Los Angeles (United States), relays CNN.

This feat was achieved at the Los Angeles Convention Center and the figures reported by the Guinness World Record make you dizzy: more than 6,000 kg of dough, 2,245 kg of tomato sauce, nearly 4,000 kg of cheese and around 630,496 slices of pepperoni.

The previous record was held by Dovilio Nardi, Andrea Mannocchi, Marco Nardi, Matteo Nardi and Matteo Giannotte.

On December 13, 2012, in Rome, they made a 1,261.65 m2 100% gluten-free pizza.

The Italian chefs had named their giant pizza “Ottavia”, in homage to the first Roman emperor Octave Augustus.

68,000 shares redistributed to food banks

To create the record-breaking pizza in Los Angeles, the members of Pizza Hut first rolled out the dough, poured in the tomato sauce and topped it with the topping.

The savory pie was then baked in pieces.

The fast food chain's CEO, David Graves, told Reuters the pizza would not go to waste.

After the validation of the record by the Guinness World Record, 68,000 shares were distributed to local food banks.
