Austrian Chancellor Nehammer: Securing EU borders requires a common community effort

“Protection of the Bulgarian-Turkish border is the protection of the border of Europe.

But gratitude for this is not enough, active actions are needed to strengthen the border, ”TASS quotes him as saying during a visit to Bulgaria.

Nehammer stressed that the Austrian side intends to put before the European Commission the issue of allocating €2 billion to protect the border.

Earlier, Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner opposed the expansion of the Schengen area due to the situation with migrants.
