A group of snowshoe hikers rescued a hiker at Mont Aigoual, in the Gard, reports the Alti Aigoual ski resort on its Facebook page.

The man had obviously set out to conquer this snowy mountain with an unsuitable outfit: a lycra and running sneakers, reports the station.

The hikers took charge of him, and regrouped to warm him up, while he was in a state of hypothermia.

The Gard firefighters and the resort's trackers, dispatched to the spot on board a snowmobile, took over to help this 22-year-old trail runner.

“It was not prudent to leave in lycra and running sneakers on the Aigoual, warns the ski resort.

The mountain wins you over, but it remains the mountain.
