- The suspect does not have any significant connection to Kalmar.

That's often how it works in these gang environments, that you hire an outside shooter precisely so you don't want to be connected to your own circle of people, says prosecutor Johan Henningsson.

Just before 11 pm on Tuesday, a 21-year-old man was arrested with a loaded weapon in the Ljusstad residential area in Kalmar.

After the arrest, the man was suspected of further crimes.

The district court shares the prosecutor's suspicions

The man, who is a native of Skåne, was arrested on Friday by the Kalmar district court, on probable grounds suspected of aggravated weapons offense and preparation for murder.

- The suspicion itself and the working hypothesis refer to the man having been there in Kalmar to take the life of a special person, says Johan Henningsson and continues:

- He has an explanation for why he had a weapon on him and what he did at the scene.

I'm not going to tell you which one it is, but it's a different explanation than the hypothesis we have, he says.

Admits the gun is his

One of the starting points the police and prosecutors are now working with is to investigate whether it could be a suspected attempted contract murder.

The man has admitted the gun was his, but denies other allegations.

The prosecutor claims that there is evidence to prove that the man intended to carry out a planned murder, but that current evidence would probably not lead to a conviction.

- It can be established that several of these suspected premeditated murders or shootings during the autumn have targeted people who are connected to the Norrliden network.

One can also suspect that it is about the drug trade in Kalmar, but that is a bit of a speculation, says prosecutor Johan Henningsson.
