Until 2021, France was the main supplier of milling wheat to the Algerian market, RIA Novosti reports.

However, a year ago, for political reasons, the state refused to import French wheat.

“In total, Russia can supply up to 3.5 million tons to Algeria, providing more than 40% of Algeria’s need for imports of milling wheat this season,” Tyurina said.

Today, Algeria ranks fifth in the ranking of importers of wheat from Russia.

Earlier, the Russian government allocated 800 million rubles for the purchase and supply of wheat to Cuba.
