A 36-year-old man, detained in the Nanterre remand center (Hauts-de-Seine), claims to have been attacked by two guards on the evening of December 31, 2022.

Accused of having caused fires to break out in the prison, he was taken to the showers where he was violently beaten away from the CCTV cameras, reports

An open investigation

The man came out with a swollen face and a bloody mouth.

A doctor noted on January 2 a frontal hematoma with swelling, frontal edema and nasal trauma.

Injuries which the two prison officers never mentioned in their report.

They only reported a fire outbreak, with no episode of violence.

An investigation for aggravated violence was opened two days before the detainee's complaint was filed on January 6.

A few days earlier, an administrative investigation had been opened by the prison.

The director of the remand center announced that a complaint for defamation could be filed if the investigation cleared the two guards.
