It is important to sanitize and wash your hands as often as possible, take vaccines that are available and not be close to someone who is sick - states the healthcare system.

However, there are no guarantees.

- It is difficult to protect oneself completely, it would be total isolation, but for most people that is not an option, also says Fredrik Månsson, chief physician at Skåne University Hospital.

- But avoiding meeting sick individuals can in any case reduce the risk, he adds.

Then it is also important to know if you are in a special risk group, because then different protections apply for different viruses.

Getting sick again

It is also not unusual or particularly strange if one were to fall ill again, shortly after recovery.

- If you have covid this week, you can instead get a cold with the flu or something else the following week, says Johan Nöjd, infectious disease doctor in Region Uppsala.

In the clip above, hear infectious disease doctor Johan Nöjd tell you how you can protect yourself and your family from viruses.
