Lavrov warns of the danger of turning any conflict between the nuclear powers into a nuclear war

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned of the danger of turning any conflict between nuclear states into a nuclear war.

Lavrov indicated, during a press conference on European security issues, that in June 2021, the presidents of Russia and the United States adopted a joint statement that a nuclear war cannot be won, and therefore cannot be waged.

He confirmed that there is a similar statement from five nuclear-armed countries.

The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that any war between nuclear powers is also unacceptable.

He added, "Even if someone decides to start it by conventional means, the risk of escalation into a nuclear war will be great."
