The Egyptian actress, Menna Shalaby, topped the search engines on Google and social networking sites after her arrest at Cairo International Airport on charges of drug possession, as the prosecution ordered her release on bail of 50,000 pounds, and then the examination of the evidence that was found with her to make sure that it actually falls under narcotic substances.

Not the first

Menna Shalaby's incident at the airport is not the first among celebrities in the Arab world, as there are many names in the artistic field who have faced charges of drug possession or abuse.

A few weeks ago, the audience was surprised by Mohamed Abdel-Wahhab, the brother of the artist, Sherine Abdel-Wahhab, in an intervention for the “Al-Hekaya” program with the journalist Amr Adib, and he was talking about that he had to force his sister to enter the sanatorium because she used drugs, accompanied by her husband, the artist Hossam Habib, and Sherine continued to receive treatment for 3 weeks. After a medical report confirmed her recovery.

Dina El-Sherbiny prison

The Egyptian artist, Dina El-Sherbiny, was the focus of people's conversation in 2013, when she was arrested while buying cocaine in the Zamalek region, and she admitted that she was visiting an apartment to buy drugs.

Although El-Sherbiny admitted in the investigations at the time that she used the drug, she denied her relationship with the large amount that was seized in the apartment, but she faced a one-year prison sentence and a fine of 10,000 pounds, and after her exit she was prevented from practicing the profession, as the former captain of the acting professions, the artist Ashraf Abdel, refused. Al-Ghafoor returned to art under Article 6 of the Syndicate Law, which stipulates preventing anyone from practicing the profession as long as he is sentenced in a criminal case or breaching honor and honesty, except in the event that a court ruling is issued to rehabilitate him, but she returned again after Ashraf Zaki assumed the Syndicate of Representative Professions.

And later, in an interview with a comprehensive examination program, Dina El-Sherbiny spoke about those who supported her during this period and those close to her who let her down, and that she was wronged.

The arrest of George Wassouf

In 2008, the security services in Sweden arrested singer George Wassouf on charges of drug possession as well, as 30 grams of cocaine were found with him hours before his concert in Sweden, while he was in a hotel that the police had searched.

Wassouf was released a week later pending investigations, and his case occupied public opinion at the time.

Ahmed Azmy

As for the artist, Ahmed Azmy, he was accused of drug-related charges twice, the first in 2013, when the police arrested him inside an apartment in the Sharm El-Sheikh resort, in possession of a large amount of cocaine and hashish, but the court ruled that he was acquitted for not completing the evidence.

In 2014, while he was in a search campaign in one of the traffic ambushes as well, he was arrested again in possession of a tape of tramadol, hashish and cocaine, and he was released on bail of two thousand pounds, and the court ruled his innocence after the nullity of his arrest procedures.

Samah Anwar

Among the female artists who faced the same situation, we find the artist Samah Anwar, who found narcotic substances in her car in 1998 after she had an accident, where she was imprisoned for two weeks, but she was released after proving that she had lost consciousness after the accident, which leads to a suspicion of intrigue. The drug is in the car.

The artist, Noha Al-Amrousi, was also arrested in 2014 for possession of narcotic substances, and after investigations that lasted 15 days, she was released on bail of 10,000 pounds.
