Earlier, SVT reported that the high electricity prices could force churches to close around the country.

In Vårfruberga-Härad's parish, things look good when it comes to electricity costs, right now anyway.

- We are so fortunate that we have tied our electricity contracts for another two and a half years.

So right now the economic situation looks good, but that's not the same as there not being clouds of worry in the sky, says Linus Jaehnke, parish priest in Vårfruberga-Härad's parish.

Exits from the church create anxiety for the future

The congregation saw an increase in exits before the breaking point for paying church fees at the turn of October-November, and Linus Jaehnke believes that the increasingly tough cost situation in society may lead to more people leaving the church.

- You can imagine that exits will increase as people find it difficult financially, he says.

A survey carried out by SVT Sörmland shows a stable financial situation in many parishes around the county, even though many are taking measures, for example in the form of lowered temperatures in churches.

And Linus Jaehnke is not alone in his worries about exits.

Marina Balado, parish priest in Stallarholmen's parish, is another who believes that a tougher economic climate can lead to more exits.

- What can I save on?

What hurts the least to remove?

For many, membership in the church will be such a thing, I think, says Marina Balado.

In the clip, you hear vicar Linus Jaehnke about the financial situation in their congregation and concerns for the future.
