The French more and more attracted by the electric?

According to a survey published Thursday by the Odoxa Institute, 30% of them are considering buying an electric car and 54% are considering buying a hybrid.

Beyond the cost (72%), the lack of autonomy (53%) and charging stations (37%) are the main obstacles to buying an electric car, according to this survey.

The survey was carried out for the firms Kea & Partners and Mascaret (formerly Dentsu Consulting), the newspaper Stratégies, BFM Business and the Usine Digitale.

It was carried out by Internet at the beginning of October with a sample of 1,000 French people and 304 technology, digital and innovation professionals, according to the quota method.

“France can achieve its ambitions”

Only 12% of French people say they are "attached" to thermal vehicles.

For 63% of them, the hydrogen vehicle, still marginal at present, is also perceived as a serious alternative to thermal vehicles.

"This implies that with the right infrastructure (availability of charging stations), the right technologies (better battery life) and financial incentives, France can achieve its ambitions to limit emissions related to the use of motor vehicles", emphasizes Fabrice Catala, partner of the Kea group.

Among technology professionals, questioned in more detail, and generally more urban and affluent, the interest is broader: 45% have considered the purchase of an electric vehicle and 60% of a hybrid.

If cars are more and more expensive to buy and use, only 22% of French people say they are ready to no longer own a car.

Half of the employees surveyed work in a company that encourages more eco-responsible mobility, whether we are talking about cycling or carpooling.

19% of employees have been offered a sustainable mobility package.
