The Smart was a stark alternative to the “eternal higher, faster, further’ of the auto industry and the resulting SUV boom. The production costs per vehicle were too high. People now, literally, are building SUVs: the Smart #1 will start in 2022 and #3 in 2022 are both fully electric.
