The development of Al Ittihad Street in Ajman raises the capacity of the road to 16,000 vehicles per hour

The Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman announced that it is expected to complete the implementation of the Al Ittihad Street development project in full by October next year (2023), noting that the project is being implemented at a cost of 71 million and 600 thousand dirhams, to raise the level of service in line with the vision of the plan. In a video recently broadcast about the project, Ajman Municipality stated that the development aims to expand the street to include five lanes in each direction, from the borders of the Emirate of Ajman at Wasit Station, to the intersection of Sheikh Khalifa Bridge, and the construction of a bridge parallel to the Nuaimiya Bridge with a length of 550 meters, consisting of three lanes for arrivals From the Emirate of Sharjah towards the Emirate of Ajman.

The project also includes a 660-meter bridge to exit the industrial area towards the Emirate of Sharjah, to raise the road capacity to accommodate about 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, saving time by 50%. The project, in addition to the implementation of service roads and parking lots on both sides of the road, and the intersection of traffic lights with free-to-reverse slots under bridges.

The Municipality Department indicated that the alternative diversion of Al Ittihad Street contributed to achieving the flow of traffic and avoiding congestion and jams around the clock, calling on residents and visitors of the emirate to follow the directional signs, and use the diversion, which was designed according to the highest standards of international specifications and traffic density requirements, to achieve traffic safety and non-conflict. With the implementation work of the project, and to achieve high operating efficiency, the diversion includes five lanes coming from the Emirate of Sharjah towards the Sheikh Khalifa intersection, in addition to two lanes towards the Al Nuaimiya area.
