This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to a high-ranking Turkish official.

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance of Turkey has not officially confirmed the situation.

Earlier, the Financial Times, citing sources, wrote that the US and the EU plan to increase pressure on Turkish banks to join the MIR payment system.

Turkish bank İş Bankası has already suspended the use of the Russian payment system due to the threat of sanctions.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan instructed the ministers to develop, together with Moscow, an alternative to the Russian payment system MIR.
