Three Israelis were wounded Thursday evening in a stabbing attack between Tel Aviv and occupied Jerusalem, while the perpetrator was shot dead.

The Israeli police said that the operation took place at the entrance to the city of Modi'in, noting that the injuries were minor.

A number of other Israelis were injured by inhaling pepper gas, which was used in an attempt to control the attacker.

Israeli media reported that a policeman at the scene opened fire on the perpetrator, killing him.

alert

In the meantime, the Inspector General of the Israeli Police, Kobi Shiftai, announced raising the state of alert among his members to the maximum degree, starting on Saturday evening, when the Jews begin their celebrations of the Jewish New Year.

Shiftai said that the Israeli police will deploy thousands of its members throughout Israel, specifically in seam areas, places of entertainment, and places crowded with revelers.

These measures, which are expected to last at least 3 weeks, come in light of intelligence warnings that Palestinians may carry out operations in the heart of Israel.

The Israeli occupation army will also intensify its presence along the separation wall in the occupied West Bank to prevent any infiltration attempts, and will also close the main barriers with the West Bank and Gaza Strip at intervals until mid-October.
