6:55 am: The UN General Assembly opens this Tuesday

The leaders of the planet follow one another from today on the podium of the UN General Assembly.

Some 150 heads of state and government from around the world will speak at this annual diplomatic high mass.

The invasion of Ukraine by Russia will be at the heart of this diplomatic week, with an intervention on Wednesday by Volodymyr Zelensky - by video thanks to a special authorization voted last week by the Member States - and a Security Council on Thursday at foreign ministers.

Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, on the other hand, decided not to go there.

06:45: Explosion near a nuclear power plant

Ukraine on Monday accused the Russian army of having bombed the site of the Pivdennoukrainsk nuclear power plant, in the south of the country, after weeks of tension around that of Zaporozhye, occupied by Moscow and targeted by multiple strikes.

According to the operator Energoatom, "a powerful explosion occurred just 300 meters from the reactors" of this plant, lending it to a night strike from a Russian missile.

President Volodymyr Zelensky for his part once again assured that Russia was putting "the whole world in danger" and called for "stopping it until it is not too late".
