It was the last of July last year that the man was out hunting wild boar outside Fliseryd in Mönsterås municipality.

It was dark and the hunt was conducted with a thermal sight in the vicinity of grazing domestic animals.

When he got grain on a herd, he chose to shoot - but it was not wild boar but three bulls of the highland cattle breed that fell victim to the bullets.

Two of them died on the spot, the third was shot and killed by the hunters.

According to the preliminary investigation, the bulls must have escaped from the pasture and entered the hunting ground, after part of the fence was torn down by forest machines.

Now the man is charged in the Kalmar district court, suspected of an offense against the Hunting Act.

According to the indictment, the man committed the act through gross negligence.

The man himself denies wrongdoing.
