Pannier-Runachet added that the French side would support other EC gas proposals, in particular a gas purchase contract insurance mechanism, as well as actions to limit financial speculation in the gas market.

Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary Péter Szijjarto said that Budapest, at a meeting of EU energy ministers in Brussels, opposed the introduction of a price ceiling for Russian gas.
