A man with liver disease in Piteå was refused transport to Sunderby hospital by ambulance personnel. The assessment was that he "was too healthy" - but the man died the following day from the effects of, among other things, blood poisoning, according to a report to the Inspectorate for Care and Care (Ivo).
Instead of an ambulance, a recumbent transport was ordered which would arrive an hour later.
The man's partner then chose to drive him to the emergency room at Sunderby Hospital in Luleå, where both blood poisoning and kidney failure were diagnosed, according to the Ivo report.
The man was moved from the emergency room to the intensive care unit, but he died the following day.
