Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan earlier this week during a tour of Asia.

The visit has angered China, which views Taiwan as its own territory.

During the week, warplanes and warships have been deployed in large exercises near Taiwan where live ammunition was also used.

-Pelosi's visit to Taiwan was peaceful, but on the other side 11 combat robots were fired, says Blinken.

"China simulated an attack"

During Saturday, several Chinese aircraft and ships were observed in the Taiwan Strait.

Taiwan's military said in a statement that it believed they were simulating an attack on the main island.

Antony Blinken believes that it is China that has unilaterally changed the status quo and that the reaction is not proportionate, writes the Reuters news agency.

Stops military cooperation

During Friday, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it is stopping its cooperation with the United States in a number of areas, including all dialogue between high-level militaries.

Climate talks and cross-border crime prevention work will also be paused.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry also states that diplomats from several European countries have been summoned to protest and sanctions have been imposed on Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
