Calls for dialogue and an end to the demonstrations to solve the crisis in Iraq

The sit-ins of the Sadrist movement's leader Muqtada al-Sadr's sit-ins in the Iraqi parliament entered its fourth day yesterday, while calls increased to resolve the crisis between the parties to end the state of popular demonstrations.

The Sadrist movement renewed the continuation of the sit-in movement inside the Iraqi parliament.

The Grand Mufti of the Republic in Iraq, Sheikh Mahdi Al-Sumaidaie, presented a new initiative to “intervene and hold a judicial session, understanding and solutions,” and said: “We are waiting for your approval of this scholarly request.”

The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, called on the political parties to "a national dialogue by forming a committee that includes representatives from all parties to develop a road map for a solution."

This call came hours after the end of demonstrations by supporters of the Coordinating Framework Forces, and others by Sadr's followers.

The head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, welcomed the Iraqi prime minister's call for dialogue, "to prevent the situation from sliding into ominous consequences."

The leader of the Victory Alliance, Haider al-Abadi, also announced support for the contents of the Iraqi Prime Minister's statement.

On the other hand, the Directorate of Civil Defense in Iraq announced, yesterday, the control of a fire that broke out in the Green Zone in central Baghdad.

The directorate said, in a press statement yesterday, that "a fire broke out in the guest house of the House of Representatives in the Green Zone in central Baghdad."

"The civil defense teams managed to control the fire," she added.
