Zelensky declares an air alert over the whole of Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday that an air alert was declared over almost the whole of Ukraine last night, alarming civilians.

Meanwhile, the Russian parliament gave its initial approval to measures that would put the Russian economy in a state of war.

Slaviansk, a city in Donetsk that found itself on the front line with advancing Russian forces, has become the focus of Russian aggression in recent days.

The city's mayor urged civilians to evacuate as quickly as possible as Russian forces approached the city.

On Monday, a market in the city center was bombed, killing two people and wounding seven others.

Russia turned its attention to seizing more parts of the Donetsk region in the Donbass, having already captured the neighboring Luhansk Province.
