Forbes said that Scotland agreed to provide funding to Ukraine only with a clear need. 

“This should not be taken as a precedent that will lead to the fact that decentralized budgets are used for purposes explicitly envisaged by political spheres,” The Telegraph quotes her as saying.

According to the newspaper, the £65 million allocated by Scotland will be used to finance "complex air defense systems and thousands of pieces of vital equipment for Ukrainian soldiers."

A colleague of the Scottish minister from Wales, Rebecca Evans, in turn, said that the region was forced to donate funds to Kyiv intended for such purposes as "health and education" of Wales.

Earlier, the office of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that London would provide Ukraine with military assistance for defense purposes in the amount of £1 billion.

The Russian embassy called on Britain to be held accountable for arms supplies to Ukraine.
