The Su-25 aircraft crashed during a training flight in the Rostov region.

This was reported to journalists in the press service of the Southern Military District (SMD).

“On June 21, in the Rostov region, during a planned training flight, a Su-25 aircraft crashed.

The pilot died, ”TASS press service quotes.

The Southern Military District clarified that the flight was carried out without ammunition.

According to the agency, the Su-25 crashed in a deserted place, there is no damage on the ground. 

“According to preliminary information, a technical malfunction could become the cause of the incident.

A commission of the Russian Aerospace Forces is working on the spot, ”the message says. 

According to unconfirmed reports from some media, the plane could fly at low altitude and crash into power lines. 

The previous incident with the Su-25 aircraft occurred on June 17 in the Belgorod region: the board also crashed during a planned training flight.

The pilot of the plane survived.

A technical malfunction was also cited as the preliminary cause of the crash.

Recent Air Accidents in Russia

In early April, a MiG-31 fighter crashed in the Leningrad Region, the crew of the aircraft ejected.

The accident was caused by technical problems.

On May 1, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, near the village of Golubevka, a light-engine aircraft crashed with two people on board.

As a result of the incident, one person died, the second was taken to a medical facility.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the fact of the incident under Part 2 of Art.

263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport, resulting in the death of a person by negligence).

In June, an incident with a light aircraft crash occurred near Tver: the pilot of the Zlin 142, who also owned the plane, tried to simulate an element of engine failure during piloting and lost control.

The plane crashed in a forest belt near the Rzhev airfield.

As a result of the incident, the pilot and passenger were injured and were hospitalized.

“The investigating authorities of the Western Interregional Investigation Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated a criminal case in connection with the crash of a light aircraft in the Tver Region on the grounds of a crime under Part 1.1 of Art.

263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport), ”the UK reported.

In early February, an An-2 plane crashed in Kamchatka, flying from the Yelizovsky district to the village of Tymlat.

On board were two crew members without passengers, both died.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article on violation of traffic safety rules, which negligently caused the death of two or more persons.

In March 2020, an L-39 training aircraft crashed in the Krasnodar Territory.

As a result of the incident, a fourth-year cadet of the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots died.

The pilot performed a scheduled training flight without ammunition, the Ministry of Defense said, noting that a cadet's flight time on aircraft of this type is more than 60 hours.

They added that the pilot took the fighter away from the nearest settlement, which made it possible to avoid destruction on the ground.

The pilot used the ejection system, but there was not enough height for its regular operation. 

In 2016, an accident involving a Su-27 fighter also occurred in the Moscow region.

The aircraft took part in demonstration performances dedicated to the opening of the monument to aviators in Ashukino.

The cause of the disaster, according to preliminary data, was the failure of equipment.

The pilot took the plane away from residential buildings, but he himself did not have time to eject.

In October 2020, in the Khabarovsk Territory, the Su-34 aircraft crashed during a training flight, the pilots ejected.

They were evacuated to their home airfield.

Another similar incident occurred on September 22, 2020, when a Su-30 fighter jet crashed in the Tver region.

The pilots were also able to eject, after which they were sent to the home airfield.

The plane crashed in a wooded area.
