The court decided to hand her over to her guardian

Ruling to reprimand a “teenager” and fine her friend 1,000 dirhams

The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced a (Gulf) teenage girl to be reprimanded and her friend to be fined 1000 dirhams for insulting a child with obscene terms while he was in a restaurant with his father, because they believed that he had assaulted the son of the second defendant.

The incident revolves, as established by the court’s certainty, when the victim (the father of the child who was insulted) was accompanied by his family in a restaurant in the Garhoud area, when the son of the last accused went to his mother with a wound in the lips, and told her that the victim’s child had beaten him.

The investigations stated that the first defendant (a juvenile - 16 years old) accompanied the other defendant to the table of the victim, and directed an obscene insult to him and his father, in the face of the father and the restaurant employees, which offended his honor and consideration, so he reported her to the police.

The victim said that he was having lunch with his family, and he was surprised by the first accused (teenager) coming to him, and telling him that his son had assaulted her friend’s son, so he asked her to talk to her father, given her young age, but she cursed him, and cursed his child with an obscene phrase in front of his wife and employees and restaurant customers.

For his part, an accountant in the restaurant stated that he was on the job when he heard a screaming sound, so he went to his source, and heard the accused cursing the victim, so he tried to check the reason, so the second accused told him that the victim’s son had assaulted her son, so the accountant took the initiative to check the surveillance cameras recording, There was no evidence of any assault on her son, which prompted the victim's father to report it to the police.

For her part, the accused (teenage) stated in the investigations of the Public Prosecution that she went to the table of the victim to complain that her friend's son had been assaulted by his son, and he denied it and yelled at her, denying that she had insulted him. She also denied the accusation before the court.

In addition, the accused (teenager) was brought before a social researcher, and the latter concluded in her report that it is not excluded that the accused had committed delinquent behavior.

In its judgment, the court relied on the forensic report, which proved, by examining the cameras recording, that the accused had committed the crime of insulting with expressions that offend honor and consideration, and then ruled to reprimand her for her behavior, hand her over to her guardian, and a fine of 1,000 dirhams against the second woman.
