Météo France on Wednesday placed 23 departments on orange alert for the heat wave, while France has been experiencing high temperatures since the start of the week.
This episode of heat wave "concerns the middle Rhône valley and the regions extending from the south-west to the Pays de la Loire from Thursday until next weekend", says the meteorological institute.
