Almost 175 thousand victims of tick bites turned to doctors in Russia

“As of the first week of June in the Russian Federation, 174,786 victims of tick bites turned to medical organizations, including 46,568 children.

The number of applications to medical organizations does not exceed the level of average annual values, ”RIA Novosti quotes a statement from the department.

It is clarified that a total of 74 cases of tick-borne viral encephalitis were confirmed, in relation to a number of cases the diagnosis is pending confirmation.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, most often because of tick bites, people turn to the Sverdlovsk, Kemerovo, Tomsk and Tyumen regions, the Perm Territory, Udmurtia, the Kirov Region, and the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Earlier, Marat Makenov, a senior researcher at the Department of Molecular Diagnostics of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, in an interview with NSN, gave advice on how to protect yourself during the period of tick activity.
