The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of two foreign nationals accused of stealing sums of money by hypnotizing the victim in the Al-Bayaa area in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, as this theft constituted the latest method of armed robbery in Iraq.

And the ministry's statement stated, "The detachments of the Directorate of Combating Crime in Baghdad were able to arrest two foreign nationals accused of stealing sums of money by hypnotizing the victim in Al-Bayaa area in Baghdad."

The ministry stated, "The arrest process took place after information was available to the detachments of the Al-Bayaa Crime Bureau about the accused, to form a working team to follow up on the matter. Take all legal measures against them and bring them to court to obtain their just punishment.

The statement of the Ministry of Interior was not the first, as it was preceded by the Baghdad Police Command, Thursday, May 12, 2022, as it stated in the statement that “after receiving a report to the detachments of the 10th Baghdad Emergency Regiment of the Baghdad Police Command from one of the owners of the exchange offices, three accused persons entered He went to his office, hypnotized him, and stole $3,000 in cash.

The statement added that "immediately, the Baghdad police chief directed to close all outlets in the area and to carry out an immediate inspection and follow-up campaign under his personal supervision. Indeed, the regiment's detachments were able to diagnose the three accused, arrest them, and seize the stolen amount."

Interior Ministry spokesman, Major General Khaled Al-Muhanna, revealed in a press statement that "it has been proven through investigations conducted by the police that there is no issue of hypnosis, but that there are other cases."

Al-Muhanna explained these methods by saying, “For example, practicing sleight of hand, camouflaging, deceiving the opposite person, or agreeing with the stolen person, and this is done through a representative process carried out by these fraudsters, to steal what they want,” stressing that “we always publish our directives and send Messages to citizens to beware of such gangs.
