During the Sami Parliament's board meeting in January, it was decided to establish a political expert with a fee.

An employment agreement was drawn up between the Chairman of the Board, Håkan Jonsson, and the elected representative.

This completely without raising the issue in the Sami Parliament's plenary.

The Sami Parliament's Chancellor Fredrik Österling believes that the board does not under any circumstances have the right to employ in this way.

He believes that it is his task to ensure that the Sami Parliament's funds are used correctly and has himself signed the police report.

"Since I mean that we have reached the limit of what we can decide for ourselves, it was important to hand over the matter to a law enforcement agency," he writes in a text message to SVT Sápmi.

"It's downright illegal"

During the plenary session in Staare (Östersund) in February, the matter was a hot potato.

The opposition police ran in shuttle traffic to the rostrum.

Among others, Ingrid Inga, member of the Sameland Party (SáR) said that it was completely crazy and suggested that the matter should be referred back to the board to be taken up in plenary in May (which starts on Tuesday in Luleå ed. Note).

The tasks as a political expert should, according to the reasoning, be included in the position of trust and not be a new paid service.

Should the person start working for the board, he should in that case resign his political assignments, the critics said.

The Sami Parliament's chairman of the board, Håkan Jonsson, then said that this was not an employment, but a remunerated position of trust.

After a long debate, it turned out as Håkan Jonsson wanted.

The political expert was given his assignment entirely in accordance with the employment contract signed in January.

And Håkan Jonsson submitted a new employment contract to the office, which would now apply retroactively from when the previous agreement was written.

Board member Jan Rannerud (VUO) made a reservation against the decision.

Jonsson: "Hard to see that it is directed at me"

According to the employment agreement, the political expert must receive a monthly salary corresponding to 0.4 price base amount per month - ie more than SEK 28,000 per month.

The political expert's responsibilities and tasks include supporting the work of the board, being a political communicator and producing statements and press releases.

In the police report, the Sami Parliament highlights some points in which a political expert has been involved and points out that there has been a lack of transparency within the authority's governance.

And refers to the government's action plan against corruption.

- I have a hard time seeing how the report can be directed at me, says the Sami Parliament's chairman of the board Håkan Jonsson (JoF) to SR Sami Radio.

In addition to Håkan Jonsson, the Sami Parliament also reports the political expert.

Both are reported for corruption.
