If they win the next midterm election, the Conservatives might not be content with a

Supreme Court overturning Roe v.

Wade

who had legalized abortion in 1973. Once in the majority in the chamber, they could drive the point home by voting in addition to a law prohibiting abortion at the national level.

This federal law would no longer leave the choice to the various States to perform abortions or not and would restrict access to abortion throughout the United States.

This possibility confirmed by Mitch McConnell, the leader of the Republicans in the Senate, in an interview with the American press this Saturday, immediately unleashed a storm in the Democratic camp.

"

It would make us half-citizens and change the foundations of America

," protests New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, who hopes to mobilize the Democratic electorate on this theme in November for midterm elections that will look very difficult.

Along with his fellow Democrats, Gillibrand is due to vote on Wednesday to make abortion rights a law.

The Senate must decide on Wednesday to pass a federal law guaranteeing the right to abortion.

She has no chance of being voted on though because to enforce that old Joe Biden campaign promise the Democrats would need a super majority of 60 votes when they don't even have all the votes in their own camp.
