The Libyan city of Al-Zawiya witnessed armed clashes, which resulted in the death and injury of one person. For its part, the government in charge of the House of Representatives in Tobruk issued a statement denying the expulsion of its president, Fathi Bashagha, from Tunisia.

A medical source in the city of Al-Zawiya, west of the capital, Tripoli, reported that one person was killed and 4 wounded as a result of clashes with light and medium weapons between two armed formations.

One of the two formations is affiliated with the Ministry of Defense, while the other is affiliated with the Ministry of Interior in the Government of National Unity.

A security source said that the fighting caused damage to a number of homes and property of citizens.

For its part, the government appointed by the House of Representatives in Tobruk denied the Tunisian government's objection to its presence there or its president, Bashagha, to leave its lands.

This came in a statement issued Friday evening by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Bashagha government.

"We deny what some media outlets are circulating about sister Tunisia's objection to the presence of the Libyan government in the Tunisian capital and its demand for Prime Minister Fathi Bashagha to leave its territory," the ministry said.

She added that this "fake news" is nothing more than malicious rumors targeting bilateral relations between the government and its Tunisian counterpart, according to the statement.

It is noteworthy that the Bashagha government held its first meeting Thursday in the southern city of Sabha to discuss its government program.

On Tuesday, the head of the internationally recognized unity government, Abdel Hamid Dabaiba, reiterated his refusal to hand over power except to a government mandated by a new parliament that comes through elections, stressing that his government will continue to perform its work normally.
