Libyan leaders agree on the necessity of forming a unified government. The agreement was reached during a meeting in Cairo sponsored by the League of Arab States.

The political process aimed at resolving the more than 10-year conflict in Libya has faltered since the collapse of the elections that were scheduled for December 2021. The Libyans hope to hold elections to end conflicts and divisions that have been embodied since the beginning of 2022 in the presence of two governments, one headed by Osama Hammad and appointed by the House of Representatives (east) and the other recognized by the United Nations.
