Sharply raised prices for, among other things, raw materials, packaging materials, transport, fuel and energy have led to increased food costs.

At the same time, there is a shortage of certain foods for shorter and longer periods.

At meal service in Piteå, around 11,800 portions are prepared every day for, among other things, the municipality's schools, preschools and nursing homes.

Food is also delivered to Luleå municipality.

Looking over the menus

The increased food costs mean that the municipality is now reviewing the menus, which may change at short notice.

However, the recipes will not change and Helena Lundberg, dietitian, believes that the nutritional value of the food will be the same.

- The servings that cost the most if you look at the demand, we will halve in the future, says Helena Lundberg.

Fewer dishes are served

The municipality will also review food waste and reduce the number of dishes served.

- Ask what the students want to eat.

It's liver steak today.

All queues for the liver steak are empty, says Ellen Vesterlund, a student at Strömbackaskolan.
