Four Korean women in their 20s who were staying in Australia on a working holiday died in a car accident.

On the 13th local time, foreign media such as the Australian public broadcaster ABC reported that an SUV car carrying Korean women and a semi-trailer truck collided at around 5:30 pm on the driveway of a New England highway in southern Queensland.

According to the report, it was raining at the scene at the time of the accident, and the truck driving on the highway crashed into the driver's side side of an SUV entering the road and stopped after moving another 150m.

Four Korean women in their mid-20s who were riding in the SUV died on the spot, while the truck driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Queensland State Police Deputy Commissioner Mike Condon said: "The victims were Koreans who came to Australia just a few weeks ago, and the tragedy struck while returning home from farm work.

"The truck driver was traumatized by this accident. We are providing all the assistance we can," he added.

The local police are looking for a way to contact the bereaved family in consultation with the Korean consulate, and they plan to continue the investigation through eyewitnesses and black box videos.

This is a 'news pick'.
