The Mumbai Municipal Government of India announced on April 6 that a case of XE infection of the new coronavirus recombinant strain was found in Mumbai, which was the first time this new coronavirus recombinant strain was found in India.

According to Indian media reports, the case of Mumbai infection with the XE strain is a 50-year-old woman who has been fully vaccinated against the new crown.

Currently, the patient has no serious symptoms.

At the beginning of this year, the new crown recombinant strain XE was first discovered in the UK. It is a recombinant strain of the subtypes BA.1 and BA.2 of the Omicron strain. The earliest known sample date is January 19 this year.

In its March 29 outbreak report, the World Health Organization said preliminary data showed the XE strain was more contagious than the BA.2 strain, but more data would be needed to confirm the situation.
