We bring out the big sweaters.

Snow, ice and polar cold are expected this weekend.

A few snowflakes fell on Friday in Hauts-de-France without necessarily holding.

After this episode of snow, frost is to be feared.

How are municipalities preparing?

"We reinstalled the salt spreader, then also the fork with the blade on the big tractor in case of snow."

Slimane Rahem, mayor of Boursies, in Hauts-de-France, is prepared.

And for good reason, behind the town hall, there are 800 kilos of salt waiting under a shelter, right next to two tractors equipped in case of bad weather.

As in many other municipalities, we are waiting for snow with a firm footing.

"We are ready to face if there is a problem in the town," he confirms.

Because this village of 400 inhabitants surrounded by fields is crossed by a secondary road.

It is not a priority axis so when it snows or there is ice, it is impossible to circulate as the city councilor explains.

"Some of our streets are uphill so when people drive and leave their homes, they skate," he explains at the microphone of Europe 1.

A dry cold that could promote frost

The mayor and his first deputy are even ready to buy salt if necessary, aware of the difficulties that there could be with this cold.

"The road is wet because right now it's melting. But if it's dry cold, it could freeze."

These two elected officials ensure that they will be on the alert all weekend, exactly as they were a few weeks ago during storm Eunice.
